Case IH 18364 – ACML (Armrest Control Module): Joystick Button 11 ACML - error state

The control module has detected an abnormal electrical condition or illogical state originating from Button 11 on the tractor's Multi-Function Handle (Joystick). This usually points to a switch that is physically stuck/jammed closed, an open circuit, a short to ground, or a short to battery voltage within the button's internal microswitch or its immediate wiring circuit.

   Inspect Button 11 on the Multi-Function Handle for physical damage, stickiness, or debris that might be causing the button to mechanically jam in the depressed position.

   Remove the armrest cover and inspect the wiring harness running from the base of the Multi-Function Handle to the ACML for pinched wires, chafing, or loose/corroded pins at the connector.

   Use a digital multimeter to test the continuity of the Button 11 circuit. Check for a short to ground or short to power. If the switch reads closed without being pressed, the handle has an internal failure.

   Connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify that the ACML software is up to date and that the joystick configuration is correct, as incorrect configurations can throw false errors.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, apply the parking brake, turn off the ignition, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Disassembly

   Remove the retaining screws securing the armrest control panel/console cover to expose the internal wiring and the ACML.

   Disconnection

   Locate the main electrical connector at the base of the Multi-Function Handle and carefully disconnect it from the ACML harness.

   Removal

   Remove the mounting hardware (usually Torx or hex screws) securing the Multi-Function Handle to the armrest frame and lift the old joystick out.

   Installation

   Seat the new Multi-Function Handle into the armrest and secure it with the mounting hardware.

   Reconnection

   Plug the joystick's electrical connector back into the armrest harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

   Reassembly

   Reinstall the armrest control panel cover and reconnect the tractor's battery.

   Calibration

   Power on the tractor. Use the Case IH EST or the in-cab AFS Pro 700 / AFS Connect display to clear the inactive 18364 fault code. You may need to perform a joystick calibration procedure so the ACML recognizes the new handle's X/Y axis and button inputs.
