Case IH 18375 – Armrest Controller / Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) / Cab Controller: PB_BJM1_06 CAN message: timeout expired

Communication failure on the CAN bus indicating the system has lost communication with the joystick/multi-function handle because the receiving controller did not receive the BJM1 message within the expected timeframe.

   Verify that the joystick base is receiving proper voltage and has a solid ground.

   Remove the armrest trim and inspect the connector at the base of the Multi-Function Handle for backed-out pins, corrosion, or pinched wires in the armrest pivot points.

   With the battery disconnected, measure the resistance across CAN High and CAN Low at the joystick connector (should read approximately 60 ohms).

   With the key ON, check the voltage on the CAN lines (CAN High should be approx. 2.5V - 2.7V; CAN Low should be approx. 2.3V - 2.5V).

   Park the machine on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery.

   Remove the screws securing the plastic trim on the Multi-Function Armrest.

   Carefully lift the trim to expose the wiring harness connected to the bottom of the Multi-Function Handle.

   Disconnect the main harness connector from the joystick.

   Remove the mounting hardware (usually Torx or Allen bolts) securing the joystick base to the armrest console.

   Install the replacement Multi-Function Handle and secure the mounting hardware.

   Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

   Reinstall the armrest trim.

   Reconnect the battery and turn the key to the ON position.

    Clear the inactive 18375 fault code via the AFS Pro display or dealer diagnostic tool.

    A joystick calibration procedure via the display monitor may be required after replacement so the controller can learn the new X/Y axis neutral and maximum detent positions.
