Case IH 18413 – ICP (Instrument Cluster Panel): HTS Manual Switch: 'HTS_ManPlaySw' CAN signal from ICP - error state
Issue description
Communication failure regarding the HTS (Headland Turn Sequence) Manual Switch. The receiving controller is seeing an invalid, corrupted, or missing CAN message from the ICP regarding this specific switch.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- VESTRUM CVX
- Case IH Puma series (165, 180, 195, 210, 225 CVX)
- Case IH Maxxum series (Tier 3)
- Case IH Magnum series
- Case IH Farmall Pro series (95U/105U/115U)
Check the cause
Enter the tractor's diagnostic mode (HH menu or H9 Voltmeter Channel) and monitor the state of the HTS manual switch (d81 or d104) to see if the controller registers physical button presses
Verify that the ICP is communicating with the rest of the tractor over the CAN bus to rule out a broader CAN failure
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors at the Right Hand Console for continuity, corrosion, or backed-out pins on the HTS switch circuit (wire 5630) and CAN lines (wires 5400 and 5420)
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery negative cable to prevent electrical shorts during console disassembly.
Access the Right-Hand Console
Remove the trim panels on the right-hand armrest/console to access the ICP and the switch panel wiring.
Test the Switch
Disconnect the HTS Manual Switch and test it for continuity with a multimeter. If the physical switch is open-circuit when pressed, the switch itself has failed.
Test the CAN Lines
If the switch tests good, check the CAN H (wire 5400) and CAN L (wire 5420) lines between the ICP and the main harness for breaks or shorts to ground.
Replace Component
If the wiring is intact and the physical switch works, the internal CAN node within the ICP that broadcasts the 'HTS_ManPlaySw' signal has likely failed, requiring replacement of the switch module or the ICP assembly.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery, power on the tractor, and use the diagnostic menu to clear the stored fault codes.
Parts you might need
(1)HTS Manual Switch / Right Hand Console Switch Panel
Often integrated into the larger Right Hand Console Switch Panel or Multicontroller Joystick assembly.
