Case IH 19013 (DTC EADE) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): NH3 sensor open or short in temperature cell circuit
Issue description
The system has detected an internal short circuit or an open load error on the temperature cell input line of the Ammonia (NH3) sensor.
Applies to these machines
7 machines- MAXXUM T4E
- 240 Series Axial-Flow Combines (7240, 8240, 9240)
- 5130 Axial-Flow Combines
- Farmall 110U
- Maxxum 115
- Puma
- Case 580N Backhoe Loaders
Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness connecting the NH3 sensor to the engine CAN bus and ECU for disconnected cables, broken wires, or signs of a short circuit.
Verify the presence and correct connection of the NH3 sensor to the network. Check for corrosion, pushed pins, or moisture intrusion at the sensor connector.
Check the CAN controller of the NH3 sensor for proper voltage supply and ensure there is no undervoltage condition.
If the visual inspection of the wiring and voltage supply is OK, verify if the fault is an internal failure (defective temperature cell) within the NH3 sensor itself.
Repair steps
Preparation
Turn off the engine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical and exhaust systems. Allow the exhaust system to cool completely.
Locate the Sensor
Locate the NH3 sensor, which is mounted in the exhaust stream downstream of the SCR catalyst.
Disconnect Wiring
Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the NH3 sensor's processor/module.
Remove the Sensor
Use the appropriate sensor socket or wrench to unscrew the NH3 sensor from the exhaust pipe.
Install the New Sensor
Apply a high-temperature anti-seize compound to the threads of the new sensor (if not pre-applied) and thread it into the exhaust pipe. Torque to the manufacturer's specification.
Reconnect Wiring
Plug the electrical connector back into the new NH3 sensor module, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.
Clear Codes and Test
Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use a diagnostic tool (such as the CNH Electronic Service Tool) to clear the 19013 / EADE fault code. Start the engine and perform an SCR healing process/system test to verify the aftertreatment system is functioning correctly and the code does not return.
