Issue description
This code indicates a plausibility failure within the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions system. The Engine Control Module (ECM) continuously calculates an expected exhaust gas temperature entering the SCR chamber based on current engine load and operating conditions. It then compares this calculated value to the actual physical reading provided by the Upstream SCR temperature sensor. If the difference between the calculated temperature and the actual sensor reading exceeds the allowed threshold, the system logs this fault code and will eventually force the machine into a power derate or limp mode.

Check the cause
Use the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check if other temperature sensor faults (e.g., 19040, 19042, or 3589) are active and address those first.
Check the upstream SCR temperature sensor for proper installation and ensure it is not loose, which could allow ambient air to skew the reading.
Verify the wiring harness and 2-pin connector (Pin 1: 5-volt supply, Pin 2: common ground) for shorts, open circuits, or corrosion.
Inspect the exhaust piping between the engine turbocharger/DOC and the SCR chamber for exhaust leaks.
Verify that the Engine ECU and the Denoxtronic (DNox) dosing unit have the latest software updates.
Repair steps
Connect Diagnostic Tool
Hook up the Case IH EST laptop to the machine's diagnostic port to confirm the 19041 fault is active and monitor the live data of the Upstream SCR temperature sensor.
Inspect and Test
Perform the wiring and physical installation checks mentioned above.
Remove the Sensor
If the wiring is intact, no exhaust leaks are present, and the software is up to date, the sensor itself has likely drifted out of calibration or failed. Disconnect the 2-pin harness and use a wrench to carefully unthread the Upstream SCR temperature sensor from the exhaust pipe/catalytic chamber.
Install the New Sensor
Thread the new OEM temperature sensor into the exhaust bung and tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification.
Reconnect Wiring
Plug the 2-pin connector back into the machine's wiring harness.
Clear Codes and Test
Use the EST laptop to clear the 19041 fault code. Start the tractor and run it under load to bring the exhaust up to operating temperature, ensuring the fault does not return and the machine exits derate mode.
