Case IH 19059 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Upstream NOx sensor internal failure (Short Circuit Error)

Critical electrical short circuit inside the upstream Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) sensor, which is a key component of the machine's Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and DEF/AdBlue emission control system.

   Check the operator display for warning symptoms such as 'Engine power loss', 'SCR failure occurring', or a general warning/fault light.

   Check for accompanying codes (such as 19060 or 19063) that might indicate broader wiring harness damage rather than an isolated internal sensor failure.

   Verify the wiring harness and supply voltage to the sensor plug to confirm the short circuit is internal to the sensor and not a harness issue.

   Locate and Remove

   Locate the upstream NOx sensor on the exhaust system (positioned before the SCR catalyst) and disconnect it.

   Replace

   Install the new sensor into the exhaust housing and reconnect the wiring harness.

   Clear Codes

   After fitting the new NOx sensor, perform an 'error cleaning' using an on-board computer scan or diagnostic tool to clear the DTCs from the ECU so the system recognizes the new sensor.
