Case IH 19060 – Engine ECU: CAN timeout error from upstream NOx sensor
Issue description
The control module has lost communication with the upstream Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) sensor over the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. The controller is no longer receiving the expected data messages from the sensor's internal module within the required timeframe.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness between the upstream NOx sensor (located on the exhaust pipe before the DOC/catalyst) and the Engine ECU for chafing, heat damage, or breaks.
Disconnect the 5-pin sensor connector and check for moisture intrusion, corrosion, or pushed-back pins.
Verify that the sensor is receiving proper supply voltage (typically 12V) and has a solid ground connection when the key is ON.
Test the CAN High and CAN Low circuits for continuity between the sensor connector and the ECU. Ensure there are no shorts to ground or shorts to power.
Verify the integrity of the CAN bus terminating resistors (should read approximately 60 ohms across CAN H and CAN L with the batteries disconnected).
