Case IH 19067 – ECU: Downstream SCR Catalyst Temp High

The Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor (EGTS) located downstream of the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) catalyst is detecting exhaust temperatures that exceed the maximum safe operating threshold. This can be caused by an actual overheating event in the exhaust system, such as an issue during DPF regeneration or over-fueling, or a failed temperature sensor sending an erroneously high voltage signal.

   Check dashboard warnings for 'Stop Engine' or 'Warning/Fault' lights, and note if the engine has been forced into a power derate.

   Inspect the downstream EGTS wiring harness and connector for melting, chafing, or a short circuit to a high voltage source.

   Test the sensor's output voltage and resistance using a multimeter to determine if it is out of calibration or internally shorted.

   Check for underlying mechanical issues causing actual high exhaust temperatures, such as a clogged Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) or a malfunctioning DEF dosing injector.

   Cool down exhaust

   Turn off the machine and allow the exhaust system to cool completely to prevent severe burns.

   Locate the sensor

   Find the downstream exhaust gas temperature sensor located on the exhaust pipe, just after the SCR catalyst.

   Disconnect electrical connector

   Unplug the electrical connector linking the sensor to the engine wiring harness.

   Remove the sensor

   Carefully unscrew the defective EGTS from the exhaust pipe. Penetrating oil may be required as exhaust sensors are prone to seizing due to extreme heat cycles.

   Install new sensor

   Thread the new temperature sensor into the exhaust pipe and tighten it to the OEM torque specification.

   Reconnect wiring

   Plug the electrical connector back into the harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

   Clear fault codes

   Connect a diagnostic tool (such as the CNH Electronic Service Tool) to clear the 19067 / 141A fault code from the Engine ECU.

   Test run

   Start the engine and monitor the exhaust temperature data stream to verify the sensor is reading within the normal range and the code does not return.
