19084

Case IH 19084 – DCU (Dosing Control Unit) or Engine ECU (EDC17): Voltage supply 3 - Coolant control valve and reverting valve (UB3) electrical | Short circuit to Ground UB3 or Open Circuit (P20A0)

Issue description

An electrical failure (either an open circuit or a short to ground) in the driver circuit that powers the DEF/AdBlue reverting valve.

Applies to these machines

  • Tier 4b
  • Magnum (180-370, Series 4)
  • Steiger (350-600)
  • Maxxum (110-140)
  • Puma (130-215)
  • Axial-Flow 5130
  • Axial-Flow 6130
  • Axial-Flow 7130
  • Axial-Flow 7230
  • Axial-Flow 8230
  • Axial-Flow 9230
  • Axial-Flow 7240
  • Axial-Flow 8240
  • Axial-Flow 9240
  • Patriot Sprayers (4430)
  • Titan
  • Austoft 9900 Harvesters
  • Farmlift

Check the cause

  1. Check the electrical connector at the DEF supply module for water intrusion, corrosion, or adhering foreign material (dried white urea crust).

  2. Test the wiring harness between the DCU/ECU and the DEF supply module. Check for an open circuit, high resistance, or a short to ground on the UB3 power supply circuit.

  3. Ensure there are no intermittent conditions or poor connections at the terminal pins.

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery.

  2. Thoroughly clean the area around the DEF supply module to prevent dirt or dried urea crystals from entering the high-pressure fluid loops.

  3. Disconnect the electrical harness and the DEF fluid lines from the module.

(Note: Be prepared for minor fluid spillage).

  4. Unbolt and remove the faulty DEF supply module from its mounting bracket.

  5. Install the new DEF supply module and reconnect the fluid lines and electrical harness.

  6. Reconnect the battery and turn the ignition ON without starting the engine.

  7. Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 19084 fault code.

  8. Run the machine and perform a system test.

The supply module should build a normal operating pressure of roughly 9.0 bar (130.5 psi). Shut the engine down and listen/monitor to ensure the reverting valve cycles to evacuate the lines (pressure should drop to 0.2 bar within 40 seconds).
