Case IH 19096 – Engine Control Module (ECM) / SCR System ECU: DEF/AdBlue supply module temperature not available.

The control module is not receiving a valid temperature signal from the sensor located inside the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) supply module. The SCR system relies on this temperature reading to manage DEF dosing and to activate the module's internal heater. When this signal is lost, the system assumes a failure and will trigger an emissions inducement (engine power loss or derate).

   Turn OFF the ignition switch before disconnecting any components

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the DEF supply module and the ECM for physical damage, bent or dislocated pins, corroded terminals, or broken wires

   Flex the relevant wiring harnesses while monitoring a diagnostic scan tool to reveal any intermittent breaks or shorts in the wiring

   Inspect the control circuit for continuity to rule out a short circuit or open load

   Check for related codes (such as 19097 or 19098) that might point to a specific electrical failure

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery if you are repairing wiring.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a short, break, or corroded connector in the harness, repair the wiring or replace the connector pigtail.

   Replace the Module

   If the wiring is intact, the internal temperature sensor has failed. Because the sensor is integrated into the DEF supply module, the entire module assembly must be replaced.

   Removal

   Disconnect the electrical connectors and DEF fluid lines from the supply module. Unbolt the module from its mounting bracket (typically tank-mounted or frame-mounted).

   Installation

   Mount the new DEF supply module, reconnect the fluid lines, and plug in the electrical connectors.

   Clear Codes

   Turn the ignition ON (without starting the engine) and use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the fault codes.

   Inducement Unlock

   CRITICAL STEP. Because fault 19096 causes an emissions inducement (engine derate), you must use the diagnostic tool to perform an 'Inducement Unlock / Counter Reset' once the repair is complete. The engine power loss will remain active after an engine restart until this system reset is performed.
