Issue description

This code indicates an "open load" (open circuit) in the electrical circuit of the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) pump motor. The system has detected that the electrical connection to the pump motor is broken, disconnected, or the motor's internal winding has failed, preventing the pump from supplying DEF to the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system.

Check the cause

  2. Inspect the wiring harness between the DEF supply module and the ECM for broken wires, chafing, or rodent damage that would cause an open circuit.

  3. Measure the resistance of the DEF pump motor itself using a multimeter. If the multimeter reads infinite resistance (OL), the internal motor winding has failed open.

  4. Use a diagnostic scan tool to observe DTC information and verify if the code is active or stored.
