Case IH 19107 (F-5435-05) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): DEF/AdBlue supply module pump motor open load failure.
Issue description
The FMI 05 designation indicates a "Current Below Normal or Open Circuit" condition. The control module is attempting to command the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) pump motor to operate, but it detects no electrical current flowing through the circuit. This means there is a physical break in the wiring, a disconnected plug, or the internal electric motor of the DEF pump has failed and created an open circuit.
Applies to these machines
14 machines- VESTRUM CVX
- 240 Series Axial-Flow (7240, 8240, 9240)
- 5130
- 6130
- 7130

- Steiger (350–600)
- Puma (130–215)
- Maxxum (110–140)
- Farmall series
- Patriot series
- Titan series
- Farmlift telehandlers
- N-Series Loaders
Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Stop the engine and let it cool. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the DEF supply module.
Connector Integrity: Check for damaged or loose machine grounds, pushed-out connector pins, corrosion, or water/debris inside the connector terminals (often caused by pressure washing).
Circuit Testing: Use a multimeter to check for continuity on the pump motor control circuit between the Engine ECU and the DEF supply module.
Isolate the Pump: If the wiring harness has perfect continuity and no shorts to ground/power, the 'open load' is internal to the DEF supply module's pump motor, meaning the pump itself has failed.
Repair steps
Preparation
Turn off the ignition, disconnect the battery, and ensure the exhaust and DEF systems have cooled down.
Removal
Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the DEF supply module.
Fluid Lines
Carefully disconnect the DEF fluid lines from the module (be prepared to catch minor fluid spills).
Dismount
Unbolt the DEF supply module from its mounting bracket and remove it from the machine.
Installation
Mount the new DEF supply module. Reconnect the DEF fluid lines and the electrical harness connector.
Filter Replacement
If the new module does not include a new DEF supply filter, install a new filter during this service (standard maintenance interval is typically every 3,000 to 4,500 hours).
System Initialization
Reconnect the battery. You will likely need to use the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) laptop to clear the persistent fault codes. In many Case IH systems, a new DEF pump requires a technician to initiate a pump pressure, flow, and emissions test via the service software before the system will initialize and allow the engine to exit derate/inducement mode.
