Case IH 19111 (F-5435-04) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU) or Dosing Control Unit (DCU): DEF/AdBlue supply module pump motor short circuit to ground failure.
Issue description
This code indicates that the electrical circuit controlling the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) supply module pump motor has shorted to ground. This prevents the pump from operating, which disables the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) emissions system and will eventually lead to engine power loss or a derate condition.
Applies to these machines
10 machines- VESTRUM CVX
- 240 Series Axial-Flow (5130, 6130, 7130, 7230, 8230, 9230)
- Steiger (350, 400, 450, 500, 550, 600)
- Magnum (180 through 380)
- Maxxum (110 through 150)
- Puma (130 through 220)
- Farmall series
- Patriot (2250, 3240, 3340, 4430)
- Titan series
- Farmlift series (632, 635, 735, 742, 935)
Check the cause
Turn the ignition keyswitch to the OFF position and wait for at least 2 minutes to allow the DEF pump to complete its purge cycle, reset the code, and safely power down the DCU.
Inspect the wiring harness running from the DCU to the DEF supply module for chafing, melting, or exposed wires that could be grounding out against the machine's chassis.
Disconnect the wiring harness from the DEF pump and the DCU. Using a multimeter, perform a continuity test on the pump motor control signal wire to check for a short circuit to ground.
If the wiring harness tests good (no short to ground), determine that the short circuit is likely internal to the DEF supply module pump motor itself.
Repair steps
Depressurize DEF system
Turn off the machine and wait a minimum of 2 minutes for the DEF system to purge and depressurize.
Disconnect battery
Disconnect the battery ground to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.
Repair wiring harness
If the diagnostic tests revealed a damaged wiring harness, repair the broken/chafed wire or replace the affected harness section.
Replace DEF Supply Module
If the wiring harness is intact and the short is internal to the pump, replace the DEF Supply Module (Dosing Pump).
Ensure clean DEF fluid
Ensure the DEF fluid is clean and free from contamination before installing the new module to prevent premature failure.
Reconnect components
Reconnect the wiring harness and battery.
Clear fault codes
Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 19111 (F-5435-04) fault code.
Verify repair
Run the machine to verify that the SCR system operates normally and the code does not return.
