Case IH 19130 – Engine Control Module (ECM) or Dosing Control Unit (DCU): SCR Inducement: Warning, triggered by low DEF/AdBlue level
Issue description
This code indicates that the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) / AdBlue level in the tank has dropped below a critical threshold. When this happens, the system triggers a warning that an SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) inducement is imminent. If the condition is not corrected, the machine's engine will eventually be forced into a severe power derate (limp mode) to comply with emissions regulations.

Check the cause
Verify physical fluid level: Manually check the DEF tank to see if it is actually empty. If it is, the code is operating exactly as intended.
Monitor sensor data: Use the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or a compatible scanner to view live data for the DEF level sensor. If the tank is full but the sensor reads 0% or shows an erratic voltage, the sensor/header has failed.
Inspect wiring and connectors: Check the wiring harness leading to the DEF header assembly. Look for chafed wires, corroded connector pins, or damage from field debris.
Check for DEF crystallization: Inspect the top of the DEF header for severe urea crystallization, which can sometimes damage the sensor electronics or connector.
Repair steps
Refill DEF tank (Scenario A: The tank is actually empty)
Refill the DEF tank with high-quality, unexpired Diesel Exhaust Fluid.
Register fluid level
Turn the key to the ON position and wait a few moments for the level sensor to register the new fluid level.
Start engine and clear code
Start the engine. The SCR inducement warning should clear automatically, though you may need to clear the inactive 19130 code from the ECM history using a diagnostic tool.
Disconnect battery (Scenario B: The DEF Level Sensor / Header has failed)
Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery.
Drain DEF tank
Drain the DEF tank into a clean container (if the fluid is uncontaminated and relatively new) or dispose of it properly.
Locate DEF header
Locate the DEF header assembly at the top or side of the DEF tank.
Disconnect lines and connector
Carefully disconnect the electrical connector and the DEF suction/return lines. Cap the lines to prevent contamination.
Remove mounting hardware
Remove the mounting bolts or the locking ring securing the DEF header to the tank.
Remove old assembly
Pull the old DEF header/level sensor assembly out of the tank.
Clean mounting surface
Clean the mounting surface on the tank.
Install new assembly
Install the new DEF header assembly, ensuring the new O-ring/gasket is properly seated to prevent leaks.
Reinstall mounting hardware
Reinstall the locking ring or mounting bolts.
Reconnect lines and connector
Reconnect the DEF lines and the electrical connector.
Refill DEF tank
Refill the tank with DEF.
Verify and clear code
Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use a diagnostic tool to verify the tank level is now reading correctly. Clear the 19130 fault code.
