Case IH 19148 – DCU (Dosing Control Unit): Dosing Valve (electrical) | Dosing valve permanent 'ON' (detection via fast decay) | P209B Reagent-dosing nozzle pressure too high.
Issue description
The Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF / Urea / Reagent) dosing valve (injector) is stuck in the open position or is being commanded permanently 'ON' due to an electrical fault. The system detects this via a 'fast decay' in the electrical signal or pressure. Because the valve is stuck open, it causes the reagent-dosing nozzle pressure to register as too high, and can also trigger related codes for a blocked discharge line (e.g., code 19550).

Check the cause
Inspect the electrical harness and connector at the DEF dosing valve for signs of melting, corrosion, or a short circuit to ground/battery that could be keeping the solenoid permanently energized.
Inspect the DEF discharge line running from the dosing module to the nozzle for physical blockages, kinks, or heavy DEF crystallization, which can cause the 'pressure too high' symptom.
Use the Case IH diagnostic tool to run a 'Nozzle Test' and 'Fitting Test' to verify if the valve is physically stuck open or if the DCU is receiving a false reading.
Check for cascading codes such as 19550 (Discharge line obstruction) or 19149/19150 (Short circuits in the dosing valve) to isolate whether the issue is mechanical or electrical.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Turn off the machine and wait for the DEF system to complete its automatic purge cycle (usually takes a few minutes after key-off) to ensure the lines are depressurized and drained back to the tank.
Disconnect Electricals
Locate the DEF dosing valve on the exhaust pipe (SCR catalyst inlet) and disconnect its electrical harness.
Remove DEF Lines
Carefully disconnect the DEF supply pipe/hose from the dosing module to the nozzle.
Remove the Valve
Remove the mounting bolts (typically M6 x 35mm) or the V-band clamp (12mm - 22mm) securing the dosing valve to the exhaust stream.
Clean the Port
Inspect the mounting port on the exhaust pipe. Clean away any crystallized urea/DEF buildup to ensure the new injector seats properly.
Install the New Valve
Install the replacement DEF doser injector using a new seal/gasket. Torque the mounting bolts or clamp to OEM specifications.
Reconnect
Reattach the DEF supply line and plug in the electrical connector.
Clear Codes & Test
Connect the diagnostic service tool, clear the 19148 / P209B fault codes, and run a manual DEF dosing test to ensure accurate dosing into the exhaust stream without leaks or over-pressurization.
