19156 (F-4374-00) - ECU

Case IH 19156 (F-4374-00) - ECU – DCU (Dosing Control Unit) or EEM4 (Engine Electronic Module) / PCM: DEF/AdBlue supply module pump motor severe speed deviation

Issue description

The control module monitors the speed of the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) pump motor. If the difference between the commanded pump speed and the actual monitored pump speed exceeds a specific threshold (typically 300 rpm), or if the pump is detected as physically blocked or overspeeding, this DTC is triggered. When this code sets, the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system shuts down, and the machine will enter an engine power derate.

Applies to these machines

  • VESTRUM CVX
  • 240 Series Axial-Flow (7240, 8240, 9240)
  • 5130-9230 series
  • Steiger (350, 400, 450, 500)
  • Magnum (180-370)
  • Maxxum
  • Puma
  • Farmall
  • Patriot series (2230, 3230, 3330, 4430)

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the DEF supply module wiring harness for high resistance in the power (VPWR) or ground circuits, or wires shorted to ground

  2. Check the suction tube inside the DEF tank for cracks that can draw air into the system, causing the pump to lose prime and overspeed

  3. Verify that the DEF lines and the dosing valve are not blocked by crystallized DEF, which can cause the pump motor to stall or struggle

  4. Ensure the DCU/EEM4 is communicating properly and is not internally defective

Repair steps

  1. Resolve Wiring/Plumbing Issues

Repair any damaged wiring harnesses or cracked suction tubes found during diagnosis.

  2. Replace the DEF Pump

If the wiring is intact and the pump is mechanically failing (internal motor failure or permanent blockage), the DEF Supply Module must be replaced.

  3. Programming

Program/calibrate the new DEF supply module to the vehicle's ECU using a diagnostic scan tool after installation.

  4. System "Healing" (Regeneration)

After replacing the pump and clearing the codes, run the machine at operating temperature. The exhaust temperature needs to exceed 425°F for approximately 30 minutes to allow the SCR system to run its monitors, verify the repair, "heal itself," and release the engine derate.
