Case IH 19243 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Engine Controller (ENG): Excessive crank case pressure pre-warning failure
Issue description
This fault indicates that the pressure inside the engine's crankcase has exceeded the expected normal operating range, triggering a pre-warning before a critical failure or engine derate occurs.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- Tier 4b
- Steiger
- Magnum
- Equipment with Cummins ISX12 engines
- Equipment with Cummins ISX15 engines
Check the cause
Use an OBD-II or diagnostic scanner to retrieve the fault code and any related codes to provide additional context.
Perform a visual inspection of the crankcase pressure sensor and its wiring. Damaged connectors or frayed wires are frequent culprits behind sensor faults and should be ruled out before replacing parts.
Check the engine's ventilation system and crankcase filter for heavy blockages.
Repair steps
Locate components
Locate the crankcase pressure sensor and the crankcase filter on the engine.
Replace crankcase filter
Remove the old crankcase filter and replace it. It is highly recommended to install a maintenance-free crankcase filter.
Replace sensor
Disconnect and replace the crankcase pressure sensor.
Skip calibration
No computer calibration is needed for the new sensor.
Verify repair
Start the engine and allow it to warm up to verify the repair and ensure the fault code has cleared.
