Case IH 19267 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Engine idle shutdown commanded from SCR inducement
Issue description
This is a consequential (symptom) code rather than a root-cause hardware failure. It indicates that the engine has been forced into an idle-only or shutdown state by the emissions system. This regulatory derate (known as an "inducement") is triggered when the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system detects a critical, unresolved emissions fault. Common triggers include an empty Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank, poor DEF quality, a disconnected DEF injector, or a failed NOx sensor.

Check the cause
Scan for active codes using a diagnostic tool to find primary SCR/DEF codes (e.g., NOx sensor plausibility, DEF pressure low, DEF quality errors)
Check DEF level to ensure the tank is adequately filled, as an empty tank triggers a severe inducement
Test DEF quality using a DEF refractometer to verify the fluid is exactly 32.5% urea
Visually inspect the DEF dosing module, injector, lines, and wiring harnesses for leaks, crystallization, or physical damage
Repair steps
Connect Diagnostic Tool
Hook up the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.
Identify Root Cause
Pull the fault log and diagnose the primary SCR/DEF fault code that initiated the inducement timer.
Perform Physical Repair
Repair the root cause. Depending on the primary code, this may involve draining and refilling the DEF tank with fresh fluid, replacing a clogged DEF filter, or installing a new NOx sensor or dosing module.
Clear Codes
Clear the inactive fault codes from the ECU.
Reset Inducement Timers
Perform an SCR system test, DEF dosing test, or a stationary desoot/regeneration via the EST. This step is strictly required to prove to the ECU that the emissions system is functioning properly, which resets the inducement timers and clears the 19267 shutdown command.
Verify Operation
Cycle the key and run the engine to verify that code 19267 remains inactive and the engine operates at full RPM without shutting down.
