Case IH 19269 – Engine Control Module (ECM) or Aftertreatment Control Module (ACM): Timeout CAN-Transmit-Frame A1DOC (After-treatment / Oxidation Catalyst Intake gas Temperature)

A CAN bus communication error indicating that the control module is not receiving the expected data frame from the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) Intake Gas Temperature sensor within the required time limit. This usually means the sensor has failed internally and stopped broadcasting, or there is an open/short in the CAN wiring harness connecting the sensor to the network.

   Visually inspect the DOC Intake Gas Temperature sensor body and its wiring for heat damage, melting, or chafing.

   Disconnect the sensor's wiring harness connectors (often labeled X-107 or X-108) and check for moisture, corrosion, or pushed-back pins.

   Using a multimeter, verify that the sensor is receiving proper voltage and ground, and check the resistance across the CAN High and CAN Low pins to ensure the network is intact.

   Attempt to clear the code with a diagnostic service tool to rule out a temporary software glitch. If it immediately returns, the sensor or pigtail is likely dead.

   Safety First

   Turn off the machine, disconnect the battery, and allow the exhaust system to cool completely to avoid severe burns.

   Locate the Sensor

   Find the A1DOC temperature sensor, which is threaded into the exhaust manifold or the inlet side of the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) housing.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Unplug the sensor from the main engine wiring harness. Cut and remove any cable ties securing the sensor's pigtail.

   Remove the Sensor

   Using a properly sized wrench or a specialized sensor socket, carefully loosen and remove the exhaust gas temperature sensor from the exhaust pipe. Note: If the sensor is seized, penetrating oil may be required.

   Install the New Sensor

   Thread the new sensor into the exhaust housing by hand to prevent cross-threading, then tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque.

   Route the Wiring

   Reconnect the sensor to the wiring harness. Secure the cable with high-temperature zip ties, ensuring it does not rest against the hot exhaust stack.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and use a diagnostic tool to clear fault code 19269. Start the engine and verify the code does not return.
