Case IH 1932-02 - UCM – UCM: Lost CAN bus communication with the electronic pilot head actuator on rear remote valve #2

The vehicle controller has lost CAN bus communication with the electronic pilot head actuator on rear remote valve #2. When communication is lost, the tractor cannot electronically actuate or monitor that specific hydraulic remote.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the rear remote #2 pilot head for physical damage, dirt, or water ingress, which commonly interrupt CAN communication.

   Verify that the UCM is sending the correct voltage and CAN signals to the pilot head.

   Ensure the spool inside the valve body is not worn or physically sticking, and verify that the system has correct hydraulic pressure, as mechanical binding can sometimes trigger pilot head faults.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the top of rear remote valve #2 to prevent any dirt or debris from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical wiring harness from the faulty pilot head.

   Remove the Pilot Head

   Remove the hex socket screws securing the pilot head to the remote valve body and lift the pilot head assembly off.

   Install the New Part

   Lubricate the O-rings with clean hydraulic oil, seat the new pilot head assembly onto the valve body, and torque the hex screws to spec (typically 27-31 Nm / 19-22 lb-ft).

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical harness back into the new pilot head.

   Reassign and Calibrate

   The UCM will not automatically recognize the new pilot head. You must reassign and calibrate the new valve to the UCM through the tractor's display monitor (often referred to as the 'H menu') or by using a dealer diagnostic tool.
