Case IH 19332 – Engine Control Module (ECM) / Engine ECU: Timeout Error of CAN-Receive-Frame FDBC

The Engine Control Module (ECM) has lost communication or timed out while waiting to receive the "FDBC" (Fan control from Body Computer) CAN message from the Body Computer (BC) or Vehicle Control Module (VCM).

   Verify the physical presence and connection of the Body Computer to the CAN network

   Test the voltage supply to the Body Computer to rule out an undervoltage condition

3. 3

   Inspect the CAN bus wiring (CAN High / CAN Low) and the CAN cables connecting the Body Computer to the network for open circuits, shorts, or high resistance

   Check the CAN configuration in the Body Computer using a diagnostic service tool to ensure the FDBC message is being broadcast

   Inspect and Repair Wiring

   Visually inspect the wiring harness connecting the Body Computer to the CAN bus. Repair any broken wires, chafed insulation, or corroded connector pins.

   Restore Power Supply

   If undervoltage was detected during diagnostics, trace the power supply circuit for the Body Computer. Replace blown fuses, faulty relays, or clean corroded battery/ground connections to restore proper voltage.

   Reprogram the Module

   If the wiring and power supply are intact, connect the OEM diagnostic tool (e.g., CNH EST) and verify the Body Computer's configuration. Reprogram the module if the CAN configuration is incorrect.

   Replace the Body Computer

   If the wiring is good, power is sufficient, and the module cannot be configured (indicating a defective internal CAN controller), replace the Body Computer.
