Case IH 19350 – Engine Control Unit (ECU / EDC): Timeout Error of CAN-Receive-Frame ISCSBC

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) expects to receive a continuous data signal (the ISCSBC frame) over the CAN bus network from the Body Computer (also known as the Vehicle Control Module or VCM). This code triggers when the ECU does not receive this specific message within the programmed time limit (timeout).

   Use the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check if the Body Computer is present and communicating on the CAN network.

   Visually inspect the CAN bus wiring harness between the Engine ECU and the Body Computer for chafing, breaks, or pinch points.

   Disconnect the harness at both the ECU and the Body Computer. Check for pushed-out pins, corrosion, or moisture intrusion.

   Use a multimeter to check the CAN High and CAN Low lines for continuity end-to-end. Verify there is no short-to-ground, short-to-power, or short between the two CAN lines.

   Verify that the Body Computer's CAN configuration is programmed correctly for the specific machine options.

   Isolate the Fault

   Connect the diagnostic tool and check for other active CAN bus codes. If multiple modules are dropping offline, the issue is likely a main CAN backbone short. If only the ISCSBC frame is missing, the issue is isolated to the Body Computer or its dedicated branch circuit.

   Repair Wiring

   If the multimeter tests in the diagnostic phase reveal high resistance (open circuit) or a short in the CAN wiring, locate the damaged section of the harness. Splice and solder the broken CAN wires, sealing them with heat-shrink tubing, or replace the affected harness section.

   Reconfigure Module

   If the wiring is perfectly intact but the Body Computer is sending incorrect data lengths or failing to send the frame, re-flash or reconfigure the Body Computer using the CNH EST tool.

   Replace Module

   If the Body Computer has a hardware failure (defective internal CAN controller) and cannot communicate, replace the Body Computer.

   Verify Repair

   Reconnect all modules, clear the inactive fault codes from the Engine ECU, cycle the key, and run the machine to ensure code 19350 does not return.
