Case IH 19360 – VCM (Vehicle Control Module): Upstream NOx Sensor could not perform self-diagnosis during after run

The upstream (inlet) Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) sensor failed to successfully complete its automated self-diagnostic check during the machine's shutdown (after-run) sequence.

   Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to confirm if code 19360 is currently active or just stored in the history.

   Check battery voltage, as the VCM will abort the NOx sensor self-diagnosis if the voltage is out of specification (related codes 19361 and 19362 indicate powerstage diagnosis disabled due to high or low battery voltage).

   Remove the upstream NOx sensor and inspect the probe tip for excessive Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) crystallization or heavy soot buildup that could blind the sensor.

   Remove the Sensor

   Disconnect the wiring harness and carefully remove the upstream NOx sensor from the exhaust pipe.

   Clean the Probe

   If excessive DEF or soot buildup is present, carefully clean the probe area using a soft wire brush. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, and do not allow the sensor tip to become wet.

   Reinstall and Retest

   Reinstall the cleaned sensor. Run the machine and perform a standard shutdown to allow the after-run sequence to initiate.

   Replace if Necessary

   If the code returns and the sensor still cannot perform its self-diagnosis, the sensor has suffered an internal failure (a common primary failure mode for NOx sensors) and must be replaced.

   Clear Codes

   Install the new sensor, connect the Case IH EST, and clear the inactive fault codes from the VCM.
