Case IH 19361 – DCU (Dosing Control Unit): Battery Voltage (actual value) | P0562 Battery voltage evaluation - below lower limit.
Issue description
The control module has detected that the system voltage supplying it has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold.
Applies to these machines
6 machines- Tier 4a
- Tier 4b
- Case IH Magnum Series (235, 250, 280, 315, 340 - Series 4)
- Case IH Steiger Series (350 to 600 HP models)
- Case IH Puma and CVX Series
- Case IH Axial-Flow Combines (7230, 8230, 9230)
Check the cause
Test the machine's batteries under load to ensure they are holding a proper charge (weak batteries are the most common cause)
Verify the alternator is charging the system correctly when the engine is running
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the DCU (often located under the cab steps or near the DEF tank) for chafed wires, loose grounds, or corrosion at the connectors
With the key switch ON, use a multimeter to measure the voltage directly at the DCU power supply pins (must match system voltage and not drop below the diagnostic limit)
Repair steps
Safely Park the Machine
Park on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
Clean Power Connections
Disconnect the battery cables. Clean the battery terminals, battery posts, and the main chassis ground connections. Reconnect and tighten securely.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If the multimeter test showed low voltage at the DCU but good voltage at the battery, trace the power circuit. Repair any open circuits, damaged wires, or corroded pins in the DCU connector.
Replace Charging Components
If the battery fails a load test or the alternator is not outputting correct voltage, replace the faulty component.
Replace the DCU (Worst Case)
If the batteries, alternator, and wiring harness all test perfectly but the DCU still logs an internal under-voltage fault, the DCU itself has likely failed and must be replaced.
Clear Codes
Cycle the key power to clear the fault code. If a new DCU was installed, it will require an OEM diagnostic tool (like CNH EST) to install the software and calibrate the unit.
