Case IH 19367 – Engine Control Module (ECM) or Vehicle Control Module (VCM): CAN-Receive-Frame PTODE ("At least one PTO engaged" signal value)

This fault code indicates a CAN bus timeout or communication error. The control module is expecting to receive a specific CAN message frame (PTODE) that broadcasts whether the Power Take-Off (PTO) is currently engaged, but the signal is missing, delayed, or invalid.

   Verify battery voltage. CAN bus communication errors can be triggered by low voltage, corroded battery terminals, or a weak battery.

   Check the fuse box for any blown fuses related to the PTO control circuit or the VCM/ECM.

   Ensure the seat switch (operator presence switch) is functioning correctly.

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting the PTO switch to the CAN bus and VCM. Look for loose connectors, chafed wires, or damaged pins.

   Test the PTO engagement switch for internal failure or sticking.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Access the PTO Switch

   Carefully remove the trim or console panel on the armrest/dash to access the back of the PTO switch.

   Inspect the Connector

   Unplug the PTO switch connector. Check for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins. Clean with contact cleaner if necessary.

   Test/Replace the Switch

   If the wiring is intact but the switch fails continuity testing (or is physically broken), replace the PTO switch with a new OEM unit.

   Check CAN Bus Integrity

   If the switch is good, use a multimeter to check the resistance across the CAN High and CAN Low pins at the connector (should typically read 60 ohms if the network is intact). Repair any broken wires in the harness leading to the VCM.

   Reassemble and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the switch, reassemble the console, and reconnect the battery. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 19367 fault code.

   Test Operation

   Start the machine, sit in the operator seat, and engage the PTO to verify the code does not return and the PTO engages properly.
