Case IH 19373 – Engine Control Module (ECM) / Vehicle Control Module (VCM): Timeout CAN-Receive-Frame Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC1)

Issue description

A network communication failure on the tractor's Controller Area Network (CAN) bus where the main control system is not receiving the expected data frames from the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC1) radar module within the required timeframe.

Applies to these machines

  • Tier 4b
  • Puma
  • Optum
  • Magnum
  • Steiger

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the CAN bus wiring harness connecting the ACC radar module to the main vehicle network for disconnected, broken, or chafed cables.

  2. Test the ACC wiring harness for short circuits and verify the radar module is receiving proper power and ground.

  3. Perform a CAN network test by checking the CAN High and CAN Low lines for proper resistance (typically 60 ohms across the network when powered off).

  4. Use a diagnostic scanner (Case IH EST or Jaltest) to verify the CAN configuration in the RADAR system is programmed correctly.

Repair steps

  1. Isolate the Module

Locate the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) radar module at the front of the machine.

  2. Inspect Connectors

Disconnect the wiring harness from the radar module. Inspect the pins for moisture intrusion, corrosion, or bent terminals (a common cause of "No Communication" faults). Clean and apply dielectric grease if necessary.

  3. Repair Wiring

If continuity tests reveal a broken wire or a short to ground/power in the CAN lines between the ECM/VCM and the ACC module, repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring harness.

  4. Replace the Radar Module

If the wiring, power, and ground are all intact but the timeout error persists, the internal CAN controller of the ACC radar module is defective. Remove the mounting hardware and replace the radar sensor.

  5. Recalibrate

Install the new radar module. Connect a dealer-level diagnostic tool to flash the correct CAN configuration to the new module, clear the 19373 fault code, and perform any required radar alignment/calibration procedures.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Radar Sensor / Distance Radar Sensor

Specific Case IH part numbers vary heavily by exact model year and chassis serial number. A used or replacement radar module requires dealer-level diagnostic software for CAN configuration and alignment calibration to function properly.
