Case IH 19393 – Engine Control Module (ECM / ECU): CAN-Receive-Frame Torque / Speed control from ADR to ECM through TSC1_SDR Message.
Issue description
This is a Controller Area Network (CAN) communication timeout error. It indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM/ECU) has stopped receiving the expected torque and speed control data (the TSC1_SDR message) from the ADR module, which may cause the machine to default to a derated or limp home mode.

Check the cause
Use the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check for other CAN timeout codes. If multiple modules are reporting missing messages, the entire CAN backbone may be compromised.
Inspect the wiring harness running between the ADR module and the ECM for chafing, pinch points, or melted insulation.
Disconnect the ECM and ADR connectors and inspect for pushed-back pins, corrosion, or moisture intrusion.
With the machine off and the battery disconnected, measure the resistance across the CAN High and CAN Low pins at the diagnostic port. A healthy CAN network should read approximately 60 ohms. If it reads 120 ohms, one of the terminating resistors has failed or there is an open circuit.
Verify that both the ECM and the ADR module are receiving proper operating voltage and have clean grounds. A module suffering from low voltage will drop off the CAN network and stop broadcasting its messages.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.
Clean Connections
If corrosion or moisture was found during the diagnostic checks, apply a high-quality electrical contact cleaner to the ECM and ADR harness connectors. Allow them to dry completely.
Repair Harness
If the CAN wires (CAN High / CAN Low) are damaged, cut out the damaged section. Splice in new wiring using weather-sealed, heat-shrink butt connectors to maintain the integrity of the twisted pair data lines.
Replace Terminating Resistor
If the resistance test failed (reading 120 ohms or open), locate and replace the faulty CAN terminating resistor on the network backbone.
Reassemble and Power Up
Reconnect all modules and restore battery power.
Clear Codes
Connect the CNH EST diagnostic tool and clear the inactive 19393 fault code from the ECM's memory.
Operational Test
Start the engine and operate the machine through its gears/driveline functions to verify that the torque/speed control messages are being successfully transmitted and the code does not return.
