Case IH 19411 – Engine Control Module (ECM) or Vehicle Control Module (VCM): Crankcase pressure 2 (in blow by hose) is too high

This fault code indicates that the pressure within the engine's crankcase ventilation (CCV) system has exceeded the maximum allowable threshold. When the system becomes restricted or overwhelmed, pressure builds up in the blow-by hose, triggering this code. If left unaddressed, high crankcase pressure can blow out oil pan seals or rear main seals.

   Inspect the CCV / Breather Filter for heavy oil saturation or soot blockage (most common cause)

   Check the blow-by connection hose between the blow-by valve and the air duct for kinks, blockages, ice buildup, or collapse

   Test the crankcase pressure sensor and verify the sensor wiring harness for shorts, chafing, or loose connections

   Evaluate engine blow-by by safely removing the oil fill cap while the engine is running; excessive smoke or oil splashing indicates severe internal engine wear (worn piston rings or cylinder walls)

   Prep the Machine

   Park the equipment on a level surface, turn off the engine, and allow it to cool completely.

   Locate the CCV Filter

   Locate the crankcase breather filter housing on the engine (often found on the top or rear of the engine block, enclosed under a round cover held by bolts).

   Remove the Housing Cover

   Remove the retaining bolts (usually 3 bolts) and take off the cover.

   Remove the Old Filter

   Pull out the saturated blow-by filter element.

   Clean the Housing

   Wipe out any residual oil sludge or debris from the inside of the filter housing and inspect the adjoining blow-by hoses to ensure they are clear of goop.

   Install the New Filter

   Insert the new OEM crankcase ventilation filter element into the housing.

   Reassemble

   Replace the cover and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specification (use Loctite if specified by your specific engine's service manual).

   Clear Codes

   Use an electronic diagnostic tool (like the EASy tool or a compatible scanner) to clear the 19411 fault code from the ECM. Run the engine and verify that crankcase pressure returns to normal parameters.
