Case IH 19416 – VCM / ECM: Blow by connection hose between Blow by valve and air duct dropped
Issue description
The engine's control system has detected a loss of expected crankcase pressure, deducing that the crankcase ventilation (blow-by) hose connecting the blow-by valve (crankcase breather) to the air intake duct has physically disconnected, fallen off, or suffered a massive leak.
Applies to these machines
10 machines- Tier 4b
- Case N-Series Loader Backhoes and Forklifts
- 580N
- 580SN
- 580SN WT
- 590SN
- 570NXT
- 570N EP

Check the cause
Trace the blow-by hose routing from the crankcase breather valve (usually located on the breather cover/valve cover) to the air intake duct.
Look for a physically disconnected hose at either the valve or the air duct, and check for loose, broken, or missing hose clamps.
Inspect the hose itself for severe cracks, splits, dry rot, or collapsing that could simulate a disconnected hose.
Check the crankcase pressure sensor and its wiring harness. If the sensor is faulty, it may falsely report a dropped hose.
Repair steps
Preparation
Safely park the machine, turn off the engine, and allow it to cool down to avoid burns from hot engine components.
Access the Engine
Open the forward-tilt engine hood to access the FPT 3.4L engine.
Locate the Components
Locate the blow-by valve (crankcase breather cover) and the main air intake duct.
Reattach or Replace
If the hose has simply slipped off: Clean the fitting surfaces on both the blow-by valve and the air duct. Reattach the hose and secure it tightly with the hose clamps. If the hose is damaged: Loosen the hose clamps at both ends. Remove the damaged blow-by hose. Install a new OEM replacement hose, ensuring it is routed correctly without any kinks.
Secure
Tighten the hose clamps securely at both ends.
Clear Codes
Connect a diagnostic scan tool (such as the Case Electronic Service Tool) to the machine's diagnostic port and clear the 19416 fault code.
Test
Start the engine and let it run. Verify that there are no crankcase gas leaks around the fittings and that the fault code does not return.
