Case IH 1943-09 - UCM – UCM: Rear pilot head #3 unexpected reset

The system has detected that the electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) valve pilot head for rear remote #3 has rebooted or reset unexpectedly. This typically indicates a momentary loss of power or ground, an intermittent CAN bus communication failure to that specific valve actuator, or an internal hardware failure within the pilot head's integrated circuit.

   Cycle the tractor's key power to see if the fault clears or immediately returns.

   Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the rear remote #3 pilot head for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or broken wires.

   Swap the electrical connection and pilot head from remote #3 with a known good remote (e.g., remote #2 or #4). If the fault code changes to the new position, the pilot head itself is internally faulty. If the fault code remains at #3, the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness or the UCM.

   Verify that the UCM software is up to date, as Case IH frequently releases software patches for the UCM and TCU to resolve erroneous communication faults.

   Turn off the tractor, relieve all hydraulic system pressure, and disconnect the battery.

   Thoroughly clean the area around the rear remote valve stack to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the #3 pilot head.

   Remove the retaining bolts securing the pilot head to the main remote valve slice.

   Carefully remove the faulty pilot head assembly.

   Lubricate the new O-rings/seals on the replacement pilot head with clean hydraulic fluid.

   Install the new pilot head onto the valve body and torque the retaining bolts to OEM specifications.

   Reconnect the battery, power on the tractor, and use a diagnostic tool (such as the Pro 1200 display or Jaltest) to clear the UCM fault codes.
