   Verify that the machine's battery voltage and alternator output are within normal specifications, as severe overvoltage can trigger power stage faults.

   Trace the wiring harness from the ECU/VCM to the engine speed output destination. Look for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinch points where the speed output wire might be shorting against a 12V power supply wire.

   Disconnect the battery and harness at the ECU and speed output destination. Use a multimeter to check for continuity between the PWM speed output pin on the harness and the battery positive terminal/power supply wires.
