Case IH 19453 – VCM (Vehicle Control Module) or Engine ECU: Fault Check for enhanced SRC-Min of sixth exhaust gas temperature
Issue description
The control module has performed a model-based plausibility check and detected that the temperature reading from the 6th Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensor in the exhaust aftertreatment system has fallen below the minimum expected threshold. This typically points to a failed sensor, a wiring issue, or an exhaust leak.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connector for the 6th EGT sensor for melted wires, chafing against the frame, corrosion, or loose connector pins.
Inspect the exhaust piping and SCR catalyst for physical damage or exhaust leaks upstream of the sensor.
Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and monitor live data for EGT Sensor 6 to check for impossible values (e.g., absolute zero, pegged at maximum, or fluctuating wildly).
Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the EGT sensor and compare it against OEM specifications to rule out an open circuit or short to ground.

Safety First
Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts. Allow the exhaust system to cool completely to avoid severe burns.
Locate the Sensor
Locate the 6th Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor on the SCR/exhaust aftertreatment assembly.
Disconnect
Unplug the sensor's electrical harness connector.
Remove the Sensor
Apply penetrating oil to the threads of the sensor and allow it to sit. Using a specialized sensor socket or wrench, carefully unscrew and remove the faulty EGT sensor.
Prep the New Sensor
Apply a small amount of high-temperature anti-seize compound to the threads of the new sensor (if not already pre-applied). Ensure no compound gets on the sensor probe itself.
Install
Thread the new sensor in by hand to prevent cross-threading, then tighten to the OEM torque specification.
Reconnect
Reconnect the electrical harness. Secure any loose wiring with zip ties to keep it away from hot exhaust components.
Clear Codes & Test
Reconnect the battery. Use the CNH EST diagnostic tool to clear the 19453 fault code. Run the engine and perform a stationary forced regeneration or test cycle to ensure the sensor reads correctly and the code does not return.
