Case IH 19465 – Engine Controller / Engine Control Module (ECM): Counter for the Engine speed monitoring

The engine control unit is receiving erratic, missing, or out-of-range pulse counts from the speed sensor.

   Check the Pro 700 / Pro 1200 display for secondary active fault codes (such as ENG 115) that might indicate a hard failure of the sensor.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector going to the engine speed sensor for chafing, corrosion, or short-to-ground issues.

   Verify that the engine speed sensor is firmly mounted and that the sensor tip is free of metallic debris.

   Power down machine

   Power down the machine and engage the parking brake.

   Locate sensor

   Locate the engine speed sensor on the engine block (typically near the crankshaft pulley or flywheel).

   Disconnect sensor

   Disconnect the sensor's electrical connector.

   Remove sensor

   Remove the retaining bolt and pull the sensor from the block.

   Install new sensor

   Install the new sensor, torquing the retaining bolt to OEM specifications, and reconnecting the harness.

   Clear fault codes

   Clear the fault codes via the cab monitor or a diagnostic tool to verify the repair.
