   Visual Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness leading to the exhaust flap actuator for chafing, melting from exhaust heat, or rodent damage.

   Voltage Test: Disconnect the exhaust flap solenoid. Turn the key ON and measure the voltage at the harness connector. The ECU should send +12V to open the flap and 0V to close it. If you see +12V constantly on the ground/control side, the harness is shorted to power.

   Resistance Test: Measure the ohms (resistance) across the pins of the exhaust flap solenoid itself. If the resistance is out of specification or shows continuity to the actuator housing, the solenoid is internally shorted and must be replaced.
