Case IH 19496 (DTC 184A) - ECU – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Monitoring of over pressure / DEF/AdBlue over pressure failure

The DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) supply module is detecting fluid pressure that exceeds the maximum allowable limit, or the system is failing to drop pressure properly when the dosing valve is opened or when the system attempts to evacuate the lines.

   Check for related codes such as 19541 or 19550 to help isolate a stuck valve versus a bad sensor.

   Inspect the physical DEF pressure lines running from the supply pump to the doser injector for kinks, crushed sections, or severe bends that could restrict flow.

   Remove the DEF doser injector from the exhaust and inspect the nozzle for severe urea crystallization or physical blockages.

   Using a diagnostic tool, check the DEF pump's internal pressure sensor readings while the system is off; if it reads high pressure when depressurized, the internal sensor has failed.

   Safe Shutdown

   Turn off the machine and wait for the SCR system to complete its automatic purge cycle. Do not disconnect the battery until the DEF pump has stopped running, or fluid will remain trapped in the lines.

   Relieve Pressure & Disconnect

   Carefully disconnect the DEF pressure line at the doser injector to check for blockages.

   Clean or Replace Doser Injector

   Remove the DEF doser injector from the exhaust pipe. If minor urea crystallization is present, clean it with warm water. If it is heavily clogged, physically damaged, or electrically failed, replace the doser injector.

   Replace the DEF Supply Module (Pump)

   If the lines and doser are clear, the over-pressure condition is likely caused by a failed internal pressure sensor or a stuck internal regulating valve inside the DEF pump. The pump assembly must be replaced.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Install the new components, clear the fault codes using a diagnostic tool, and run a manual DEF dosing test or system leak test to verify that the pressure regulates normally.
