Case IH 19511 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): No load error for powerstage 1

The control module is commanding the Powerstage 1 circuit to activate, but it detects zero electrical current draw, indicating an open circuit. This typically means there is a broken wire, a disconnected plug, or the actuator's internal coil/element has burned out.

   Identify the Component: Use the machine's wiring diagram to trace the ECU pin designated for Powerstage 1 to its corresponding actuator.

   Visual Inspection: Check the electrical connector at the actuator for secure fitment, corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins.

   Component Resistance Test: Disconnect the actuator and measure the resistance across its pins with a multimeter. If it reads infinite resistance (OL), the component is internally open and has failed.

   Harness Continuity Test: Perform a continuity check on the wiring harness between the ECU's Powerstage 1 pin and the actuator connector. Test for breaks or chafing in the wire.

   Power/Ground Supply Check: Check for any blown fuses or faulty relays that might supply the baseline power or ground to the actuator side of the circuit.

   Disconnect battery

   Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent electrical spikes.

   Disconnect harness

   Disconnect the wiring harness from the actuator identified on the Powerstage 1 circuit.

   Replace faulty actuator

   If the actuator tested open/faulty: Unbolt and remove the failed actuator. Install the replacement part and torque mounting hardware to OEM specifications.

   Repair wiring harness

   If the wiring harness tested faulty: Locate the break in the wire. Splice in a new section of wire using weather-sealed heat-shrink butt connectors, or replace the damaged connector pigtail.

   Apply dielectric grease and reconnect

   Apply dielectric grease to the connector pins to prevent future corrosion, and firmly reconnect the harness to the actuator.

   Reconnect battery

   Reconnect the battery ground cable.

   Clear fault code

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port and clear the inactive 19511 fault code.

   Verify repair

   Start the engine and run it through a normal operating cycle to verify the code does not return.
