Case IH 19515 – Engine Control Module (ECM): Short circuit to ground error for powerstage 1
Issue description
The circuit controlled by powerstage 1 has shorted to the chassis ground. This can be caused by a chafed wiring harness touching the frame, an internal short within the actuator itself, or a failure of the internal driver inside the control module.

Check the cause
Consult the specific machine's wiring diagram to determine exactly which actuator is assigned to Powerstage 1 (frequently the intake air heater, an EGR valve, or a DEF system heater)
Inspect the wiring harness connecting the ECM to the suspected actuator for chafing, bare wires, or pinching against the engine block or frame
Disconnect the actuator and use a multimeter to check the resistance of the wiring harness to ground (continuity to ground on the supply wire indicates a shorted harness)
Test the actuator itself for an internal short to ground
Inspect the ECM connector pins for water ingress, corrosion, or damage
