Case IH 1955-08 - UCM – UCM: Aux Valve 4 Port Flow Command / Rear pilot head #4 failed to initialize

An electronic or mechanical failure in the pilot head mounted on the #4 rear hydraulic remote valve. The pilot head fails to initialize, meaning the module cannot establish communication or verify the physical position of the actuator upon startup.

   Verify that the low-pressure circuit supplying the pilot head is operating at the correct hydraulic pressure.

   Check for a worn or sticking main spool inside the valve body, which can prevent the pilot head from moving the spool and cause initialization failure.

   Ensure the wiring harness connecting the #4 pilot head to CAN bus 2 and the UCM is intact and receiving proper voltage.

   Clean valve area

   Clean the area around the #4 rear remote valve to prevent contamination.

   Remove end cover

   Remove the end cover located at the opposite end of the remote valve section from the pilot head assembly. Save the two O-rings found under this cover.

   Inspect and lubricate main spool

   Carefully remove the main flow control spool from the remote valve section to inspect for wear. Lubricate the spool (or a new improved spool) with clean hydraulic oil and reassemble.

   Remove failed pilot head

   Unbolt and remove the failed pilot head assembly from the top of the valve.

   Install new pilot head

   Install the new pilot head assembly and the 100-150 micron filter.

   Reinstall O-rings and cover

   Reinstall the two O-rings saved from step 2 and tighten the six valve spool cover screws to 27–31 Nm (19–22 lb-ft).

   Electronically reassign remote valves

   Turn the ignition key switch ON. Navigate to the tractor's 'H menu' (Configurations and options) via the Pro 1200 / AFS display to electronically reassign the remote valves. Failure to do this will result in an offline code (such as 4193).

   Calibrate remote valve

   Run the remote valve calibration procedure to clear the fault codes and verify operation.
