Case IH 19552 – Engine Control Module (ECM): Crankcase Pressure Sensor 2 (in blow by hose) Value exceeded Tolerance Limit

The Engine Control Unit has detected that the pressure reading from the secondary crankcase pressure sensor (located specifically in the blow-by hose) is outside of the acceptable programmed parameters. This typically means the crankcase pressure is genuinely too high, the blow-by venting system is restricted, or the sensor itself is providing an implausible reading.

   Check engine oil level for fuel dilution, as increased oil level increases crankcase pressure and overcomes the blow-by system.

   Inspect the blow-by connection hose routed between the blow-by valve and the air duct for kinks, blockages, or disconnections.

   Verify that the blow-by venting valve is opening properly during operation.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between Crankcase Pressure Sensor 2 and the Engine Control Unit (EDC) for short circuits, broken cables, or disconnected pins.

   Use the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EASY tool) to monitor live data of the crankcase pressure sensor for stuck or erratic values indicating a failed sensor.

   Address Oil Dilution

   If the dipstick shows the oil level is overfull and smells of diesel fuel, diagnose the source of the fuel leak (commonly leaking fuel injectors or a failing high-pressure fuel pump). Repair the fuel leak, then drain the contaminated oil and replace the engine oil and filter.

   Service the Blow-By System

   If the blow-by venting valve is stuck closed or the blow-by filter is saturated/clogged, replace the blow-by filter/valve assembly and clear any obstructions in the blow-by hose.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the mechanical systems and wiring are intact but the sensor continues to report values exceeding the tolerance limit, replace the Crankcase Pressure Sensor 2 located in the blow-by hose.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Connect the CNH EST diagnostic tool, clear the inactive fault codes, and run the engine up to operating temperature to verify that the crankcase pressure remains within normal limits and the code does not return.
