Case IH 19568 – DCU: Low UREA level 2 (warning) - UREA level below Limit 2 - P203F Reagent - fluid level in tank - too low
Issue description
The Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF / Urea) in the tank has dropped below the critical 'Limit 2' threshold, indicating either an empty/critically low tank or a failed DEF level sensor.
Applies to these machines
6 machines- Tier 4a
- Tier 4b
- Case IH Steiger
- Case IH Magnum
- Case IH Puma
- Case IH Axial-Flow Combines
Check the cause
Visually inspect the DEF tank to verify if the fluid is actually empty or critically low (do not rely solely on the cab gauge)
Scan the DCU for related electrical fault codes (e.g., P203D or P203A) which indicate a sensor electrical failure rather than just low fluid
Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the DEF tank header for corrosion, chafing, or loose pins that could cause a false low reading
Repair steps
Refill the Tank
Fill the DEF/Urea tank with fresh, high-quality Diesel Exhaust Fluid.
Static Healing Procedure
Turn the ignition key to the ON position without starting the engine. Allow the DCU time to poll the DEF level sensor and recognize the new fluid level.
Evaluate Sensor Response
If the fluid level on the dash updates and the code goes inactive, the issue was simply an empty tank. If the gauge still reads empty, the DEF level sensor/header assembly has failed.
Replace the DEF Header
If the sensor is faulty, drain the DEF tank, disconnect the coolant lines (used for thawing DEF) and electrical connectors, and remove the DEF tank header assembly.
Install New Sensor
Install the replacement DEF level sensor/header, reconnect the lines, and refill the tank.
Clear Codes
Connect your diagnostic tool (e.g., Case IH EST) to clear the inactive 19568 / P203F fault codes from the DCU.
