19583

Case IH 19583 – Engine Control Module (ECM) / Instrument Cluster (ADIC/TECU): Long distance with oil change warning

Issue description

This is a maintenance and service interval alert indicating that the machine has been operated past its programmed distance or time interval since the last engine oil change reset.

Applies to these machines

  • Tier 4b
  • Puma Series
  • Maxxum
  • Magnum
  • Farmall
  • JXU series
  • STM N Series Loaders

Check the cause

  1. Verify the instrument cluster to confirm the engine hours or distance has exceeded the programmed oil change interval

  2. Inspect the engine oil dipstick to ensure the oil level is safe and check for severe degradation or fuel dilution

  3. Ensure there are no active sensor failures or critical oil condition codes (e.g., 19585 Low oil viscosity, 19593 Oil level sensor fault)

Repair steps

  1. Warm up the engine slightly to help the oil flow, then shut the machine down.

  2. Drain the old engine oil from the oil pan.

  3. Remove the old engine oil filter and clean the filter housing mating surface.

  4. Install a new OEM engine oil filter.

Lubricate the gasket with fresh oil before tightening.

  5. Refill the engine with the correct capacity and grade of fresh engine oil as specified in your operator's manual.

  6. Reset the service interval monitor in the tractor's instrument cluster display or via the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST).

Crucial Step: If the interval is not reset in the ECM, the 19583 fault code will remain active.
