Case IH 19591 – VCM (Vehicle Control Module) or Engine ECU: Minimum Signal Error

The signal voltage from the engine oil level/quality sensor has dropped below the minimum acceptable threshold, typically pointing to a short to ground, a severed wire, or a completely failed sensor.

   Pull the engine dipstick to verify that the engine oil is not critically low or severely diluted with fuel.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the oil level sensor on the engine block/oil pan for chafed wires, melted insulation, or a short to ground.

   Disconnect the sensor and check for oil intrusion, moisture, or corrosion inside the connector pins.

   Use a multimeter to verify that the sensor is receiving the correct 5-volt reference signal from the Engine ECU.

   Park the machine on level ground, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.

   Ensure the machine is safely parked before beginning repairs.

   If the manual oil check reveals heavily diluted or contaminated oil, drain the engine oil and replace the oil filter.

   This addresses concurrent oil dilution/viscosity codes.

   Locate the engine oil level sensor on the lower engine block or oil pan.

   Identify the sensor location for inspection and removal.

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor. If the connector is damaged or corroded, splice in a new pigtail connector.

   Address any connector issues that could cause a minimum signal error.

   If the wiring is intact and the 5V reference is present, unthread and remove the faulty oil level sensor.

   Have a catch pan ready if the oil was not drained, as the sensor has failed internally.

   Install the new OEM oil level sensor and tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification.

   Ensure the new sensor is properly seated and secured.

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Restore the electrical connection to the new sensor.

   Refill the engine with the correct viscosity oil if it was drained.

   Use approved Tier 4 Final diesel engine oil.

   Turn the key to the ON position and use an electronic service tool (EST) or the machine's dashboard diagnostic menu to clear the stored 19591 fault code.

   Verify the repair by clearing the fault code from the system.
