Case IH 19593 – Engine Control Module (ECM) or Vehicle Control Module (VCM): Oil level sensor fault

The control module is receiving an implausible, erratic, or missing signal from the sensor that monitors the oil level in the engine oil pan (sump).

   Use the engine dipstick to verify the physical oil level. Ensure the engine is not severely low on oil or overfilled, which could cause erratic sensor readings.

   Locate the engine oil level sensor on the side or bottom of the engine oil pan. Inspect the sensor housing for physical damage or oil leaks.

   Disconnect the sensor pigtail/connector. Check for oil intrusion, water ingress, or corrosion on the pins. Ensure the wiring harness is not chafed, melted, or shorting against the engine block.

   Using a multimeter, check the sensor circuit for continuity. Verify that there is no open circuit, short to ground, or short to battery voltage on the signal wire leading back to the ECM/VCM.

   Preparation

   Park the machine on a level surface, turn off the engine, remove the key, and allow the engine oil to cool.

   Drain the Oil

   Place a clean drain pan under the engine oil sump. Remove the drain plug and drain the engine oil (if the sensor is mounted below the oil fill line, which is typical).

   Remove the Sensor

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the oil level sensor. Remove the retaining bolts (or unthread the sensor, depending on the specific engine block design) and pull the sensor out of the oil pan.

   Clean the Mating Surface

   Thoroughly clean the mounting port on the oil pan to ensure a proper seal for the new sensor.

   Install the New Sensor

   Lubricate the new O-ring/seal with clean engine oil. Insert the new sensor into the oil pan and torque the retaining bolts to the OEM specification.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical connector, ensuring it clicks securely into place. Reinstall the oil drain plug.

   Refill Fluids

   Refill the engine with the correct capacity and grade of engine oil.

   Clear Codes

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or a compatible diagnostic scanner to clear fault code 19593 from the ECM/VCM. Start the engine, check for leaks, and verify the code does not return.
