Case IH 19597 – DCU (Dosing Control Unit): CAN receive frame EEC1 (Driver demand, eng speed, eng torque) _timeout _P0600 Serial Communication Link
Issue description
The DCU is failing to receive the EEC1 data frame from the Engine ECU within the expected timeframe, triggering a P0600 Serial Communication Link error.
Applies to these machines
10 machines- Tier 4a
- Case IH Magnum 235
- Case IH Magnum 260
- Case IH Magnum 290
- Case IH Magnum 315
- Case IH Magnum 340
- Case IH Magnum 370
- Case IH Magnum 380
- Case IH Steiger Series (350 to 600 HP)
- Case IH Puma Series (130 to 210)
Check the cause
Test voltage at the DCU (abnormally high voltage indicates a wiring fault, while correct voltage with lost communication points to an internal DCU failure)
Visually inspect the engine wiring harness on the right side of the engine near the fuel filters, CP3 pump, CAM, and crank sensors for chafing against the engine block
Check all relevant connectors between the Engine ECU and the DCU for bent, dislocated, or corroded pins, and ensure they are fully seated
Perform a flex test by gently flexing the wiring harnesses while monitoring the diagnostic display or Electronic Service Tool (EST) to reveal intermittent breaks or shorts
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Always disconnect the batteries before servicing the engine wiring harness or control modules to prevent electrical spikes.
Expose the Harness
If the diagnostic checks point to a wiring short (especially near the CAM/crank sensors or fuel filter), carefully cut back the protective loom to expose the individual wires.
Repair Wiring
If bare wires are found rubbing together, separate them. Repair the damaged sections by soldering and using heat-shrink tubing, or wrap each individual wire securely with high-quality electrical tape.
Re-loom and Secure
Tightly wrap the repaired harness in a new protective loom and secure it with zip ties away from vibration points and sharp engine edges to prevent a recurrence.
Replace Harness (If Necessary)
If the harness is severely degraded, melted, or rodent-damaged, remove the old harness by disconnecting all sensor points and install a new OEM engine wiring harness.
Replace DCU (If Necessary)
If the wiring tests perfectly intact and the DCU is receiving proper voltage but still failing to communicate on the CAN-bus, the DCU must be replaced. Note: A new DCU requires software installation/flashing via the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) before it will function.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the batteries, cycle the key, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 19597 / P0600 fault codes. Test operate the machine under load to ensure the code does not return.
Parts you might need
(2)Engine Wiring Harness
47870287Fitment: Case IH Magnum 215-380 Tier 4B. Exact harness part numbers vary heavily by specific PIN/Serial Number and cab configuration; verify with the dealer using the machine's serial number.
Dosing Control Unit (DCU) / Module
