Case IH 19619 – Vehicle Control Module (VCM) or Engine ECU: Monitoring of the oxidation catalyst in rapid heat-up, calculated conversion rate lower than the limiting value

The Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) is failing to reach the required temperature or chemical conversion efficiency during the engine's rapid heat-up phase (thermal management).

   Verify codes using the machine's Advanced Information Center (AIC) display or an electronic service tool to see if 19619 is active alongside any other exhaust temperature or NOx sensor faults

   Inspect the exhaust piping between the turbocharger and the DOC for leaks, which cause a loss of heat and prevent the DOC from reaching its rapid heat-up threshold

   Test exhaust temperature sensors by monitoring the upstream and downstream DOC temperature sensors to see if a sensor is skewed or reading out of range

   Remove the exhaust piping and visually inspect the face of the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst for soot plugging, face melting, or chemical poisoning

   Safety First

   Ensure the machine is parked on a level surface, the engine is off, and the exhaust system has completely cooled down.

   Sensor Verification

   If diagnostic checks reveal a faulty exhaust temperature sensor, disconnect the harness, remove the sensor, and install a replacement.

   Exhaust System Sealing

   Tighten or replace any leaking exhaust clamps or gaskets between the engine block and the DOC assembly.

   DOC Replacement

   If the sensors and exhaust piping are intact but the conversion rate remains below the limiting value, the DOC itself has failed. Disconnect the exhaust temperature sensors and NOx sensors from the DOC housing. Unbolt the DOC assembly from the exhaust mounting brackets and the downstream SCR tube. Install the new DOC and torque all exhaust clamps to OEM specifications to prevent future leaks.

   Reassembly and Clearing

   Reconnect all sensors. Use a diagnostic service tool to clear the 19619 fault code from the VCM/ECU memory.

   Validation

   Run the engine through a complete warm-up cycle to allow the ECU to monitor the rapid heat-up phase and verify that the calculated conversion rate is now within the acceptable limit.
