Case IH 19636 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Fuel pressure control valve output open load

An "open load" fault indicates that the Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected an incomplete electrical circuit (open circuit) on the output power stage that controls the Fuel Pressure Control Valve.

   Check the electrical connector at the fuel pressure control valve for backed-out pins, corrosion, or physical damage

   Inspect the wiring whip/harness between the ECU and the fuel pressure control valve for chafing, breaks, or a disconnected plug

   Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the control lines from the ECU to the valve to isolate the open circuit

   Rule out a failure within the electronic control unit (ECU) itself, which is a rare but possible cause of an open load output

   Disconnect Power

   Turn the ignition off and disconnect the battery negative cable to prevent voltage spikes to the ECU.

   Isolate the Fault

   Based on the continuity test, locate the break in the wiring harness. If the wiring and connectors are intact, the open load is internal to the fuel pressure control valve solenoid.

   Replace the Valve

   If the valve is deemed faulty, remove the defective Fuel Pressure Control Valve (MPROP) from the high-pressure fuel pump assembly.

   Install New Valve

   Install the replacement pressure control valve and reconnect the wiring harness securely.

   Reset EEPROM / Learn Data

   Connect a dealer diagnostic tool to the machine's DLC (Data Link Connector). You must reset the EEPROM learning data and execute the first learning procedure for the new pressure control valve.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Clear the historic fault code from the ECU memory. Run an engine test to verify that the system operates normally and check for any fuel leakage.
