Case IH 1967-02 - UCM – UCM: High temperature in the actuator of rear pilot head #5
Issue description
The internal temperature sensor within the electronic actuator (pilot head) for the #5 rear hydraulic remote valve has detected an abnormally high temperature. This is typically caused by an internal electrical short, excessive current draw due to a mechanically binding hydraulic spool, or extreme hydraulic fluid temperatures transferring heat to the actuator.

Check the cause
Verify the code on the AFS Pro display to confirm it is logging as a High Temperature error (1967-02) rather than a loss of communication.
Carefully feel the #5 rear remote actuator (pilot head) to confirm if it is physically hotter than the adjacent remote actuators.
Disconnect the electrical harness to the #5 remote actuator and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or melting.
Check if the hydraulic spool valve itself is sticking or mechanically binding, which causes excessive current draw.
Ensure the tractor's overall hydraulic oil temperature is within normal operating range.
Repair steps
Cool Down & Reset
Allow the tractor and the #5 actuator to cool completely. Clear the fault codes in the UCM and cycle the key to see if the code returns immediately on startup (indicating a hard electrical short) or only after use (indicating a mechanical bind or working overload).
Clean Connections
Spray the #5 actuator connector with electronic contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and reconnect.
Swap Test (Optional)
If the harness allows, temporarily swap the electrical connection between remote #4 and remote #5. If the high-temperature code moves to the #4 circuit, the actuator itself is internally faulty. If the code stays on the #5 circuit, there is a wiring harness short to the UCM.
Replace the Actuator
If the actuator is internally shorted or burned out, unbolt the pilot head/actuator assembly from the #5 hydraulic valve slice and install a new unit.
Calibration
After replacing a remote valve actuator, use the tractor's display or the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to perform a hydraulic remote valve calibration so the UCM can learn the new actuator's end-of-stroke limits.
