Case IH 19725 – DCU (Dosing Control Unit): EEPROM / Checksum failures — Wrong EEPROM size — P062F Internal Control Module EEPROM Error

Issue description

The control module has detected an internal memory failure. A 'Wrong EEPROM size' or 'Checksum failure' indicates that the module's internal software is corrupted, or the physical memory chip inside the module has failed, preventing it from reading or writing data correctly.

Applies to these machines

  • Tier 4a
  • Case IH Magnum 235, 260, 290, 315, 340 (Series 4)
  • Case IH Steiger 350, 400, 450, 500, 550, 600 (NA and Quadtrac/Rowtrac variants)
  • Case IH Puma series

Check the cause

  1. Check the wiring harness supplying power and ground to the DCU for severe voltage drops, poor grounds, or voltage spikes

  2. Ensure the tractor's batteries are fully charged and the alternator is outputting the correct voltage

  3. Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to check for software updates or service bulletins, as a reflash can sometimes repair corrupted EEPROM data

Repair steps

  1. Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tractor's main battery power

    This prevents electrical arcing.

  2. Locate the Dosing Control Unit (DCU)

Typically mounted near the DEF tank or the exhaust aftertreatment assembly.

  3. Disconnect the main wiring harness connectors from the DCU

  4. Unbolt the faulty DCU from its mounting bracket and remove it

  5. Install the new DCU and secure the mounting hardware

  6. Reconnect the wiring harness and restore battery power

  7. Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and flash the module

Flash the module with the correct software payload for your specific tractor's VIN/serial number. Note: CNH requires troubleshooting to be documented via the EST/Assist system before they will issue the passwords required to program a new emissions module.

Parts you might need
