Case IH 19747 – Engine Control Module (EDC / Engine ECU): Minimum rail pressure exceeded
Issue description
This fault code indicates that the common rail fuel pressure has dropped below the minimum allowable threshold or the system has exceeded the maximum allowable negative deviation from the commanded rail pressure. The engine control system is detecting that the high-pressure fuel pump is unable to maintain the optimum target rail pressure required for the current engine RPM and load.

Check the cause
Verify that the low-pressure fuel pump (lift pump) is supplying adequate fuel, and check for clogged fuel filters or air leaks in the supply lines
Inspect the wiring harness and terminals for the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor and the Fuel Metering Unit (MPROP) for contact resistance, corrosion, or pin deformation
Check the fuel pump relay coil and contacts, measuring resistance to ensure battery power is properly supplied to the fuel pump circuit
Check for internal leakage in the high-pressure system, such as a sticking fuel metering valve or excessive return flow (leak-off) from one or more fuel injectors

Filter Replacement
Begin by replacing the primary and secondary fuel filters to eliminate the possibility of a simple fuel supply restriction causing the pressure drop.
Electrical Testing
Use a multimeter to test the fuel pump relay and the wiring continuity between the EDC and the fuel rail pressure sensor. Calibrate the tester and measure resistance across the relay terminals (e.g., terminals 85 and 86 should show proper coil resistance, and 30 to 87 should show continuity when actuated). Repair any damaged wiring.
Injector Leak-Off Test
If the low-pressure supply and electrical circuits are intact, perform an injector return flow test. If an injector is stuck open or leaking internally, it will bleed off rail pressure. Replace any injectors that fail the leak-off test.
Metering Unit / Pump Replacement
If the injectors are functioning correctly, the fault likely lies with a sticking fuel metering unit on the high-pressure pump or a failing high-pressure pump itself. Replace the metering unit or the high-pressure pump assembly.
Clear and Verify
Clear the EDC fault codes using a diagnostic tool and test drive the tractor under load to ensure the rail pressure now matches the commanded setpoint.
