Case IH 19794 – Engine Control Module (ECM) or Vehicle Control Module (VCM) / Denoxtronic Control Unit (DCU): SCR Inducement: Level 1 (Torque reduction), triggered by DEF/AdBlue Consumption fault
Issue description
This code indicates that the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system is consuming significantly less Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF / AdBlue) than the engine's software calculates is necessary for the current engine load and emissions output. Because the emissions system is not functioning at the required efficiency, the system triggers a Level 1 Inducement (torque reduction).

Check the cause
Fluid Quality & Level Check: Verify the DEF tank is full and test the fluid with a refractometer. It must be exactly 32.5% urea. Degraded, diluted, or contaminated DEF will cause dosing miscalculations.
Visual Inspection for Crystallization: Inspect the DEF dosing injector (nozzle) at the exhaust, the DEF lines, and the pump for white, crystallized urea buildup which restricts fluid flow.
Vent Line Inspection: Check the DEF tank vent line/breather. A clogged vent creates a vacuum in the tank, preventing the pump from drawing fluid.
Diagnostic Dosing Test: Use a dealer-level scan tool (CNH EST, TEXA, or Jaltest) to run a forced DEF dosing test and pump pressure test to verify if the pump can generate the required 9 bar (130 psi) of pressure.
Filter Inspection: Check the main inline DEF filter and the suction screen inside the tank for blockages.
Repair steps
Resolve Blockages
If crystallization is found at the dosing injector, remove the injector and clean it using warm distilled water (do not use harsh chemicals). If the injector is mechanically failed, replace it.
Replace Filters
Replace the main DEF pump filter. This should be done as a baseline maintenance step.
Flush the System
If the DEF fluid is bad, drain the tank completely, flush the lines, and refill with fresh, high-quality DEF.
Replace the DEF Pump
If the pump failed the diagnostic pressure test or is internally damaged by crystallization, replace the DEF Supply Module (Pump).
Clear Codes and Reset Inducement Timer
Use a heavy-duty diagnostic tool to clear the fault and reset the inducement/restart counter. You cannot simply clear the code with a generic OBD reader.
Validation Cycle
After resetting the counter, the engine must be run for a validation cycle (typically up to 30 minutes). If the ECM detects proper DEF consumption during this time, full torque will be permanently restored. If the repair was unsuccessful, the engine will lock back into derate.
